India: Presidential Polls Droupadi Murmu Meets Jharkhand Chief Minister, Seeks Support

 President Polls: NDA's official competitor Droupadi Murmu and JMM president Shibu Soren are both ancestral pioneers and have a place with the Santhal ethnic gathering.



NDA's official competitor Droupadi Murmu visited Jharkhand on Monday and looked for the help of administering Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, an ancestral party, other than BJP lawmakers and parliamentarians in the state for her political decision to the country's highest office.

She met JMM president Shibu Soren, its leader president and Chief Minister Hemant Soren other than the NDA MLAs and parliamentarians in the state.


The JMM, which is yet to declare its stand on help to Ms Murmu or the resistance groups' candidate Yashwant Sinha in the July 18 official surveys, will take the choice this week, a party representative said.


The CM stretched out a warm greeting to Ms Murmu, who is the previous legislative head of the state, on her appearance. She was joined by association pastors Arjun Munda, Annapurna Devi and Arjun Meghwal, other than BJP state president Deepak Prakash.


"A warm greeting is reached out to her (Murmu) on her Appearance to the sacred place that is known for Bhagwan Birsa. Many wishes from our side to regarded Droupadi Ji," Mr Soren said in a tweet.


Ms Murmu and Mr Soren are both ancestral pioneers and have a place with the Santhal ethnic gathering, which has a sizeable populace in Jharkhand as well as in Odisha, from where she hails.


Ms Murmu had before called up Mr Soren to look for JMM's help for the surveys.


Senior JMM pioneer Lobin Hembrom said Mr Soren has been approved by the party to converse with the Center and take the "proper choice" on supporting the official up-and-comer.


"He (Soren) met Union Home Minister Amit Shah as of late and we will pronounce our choice very soon," Hembrom said.
